Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The state of humanity is sad but so many are in deep denial

Posters here have a tendency to mention things like the annual bonus, raises, etc.

At this point in time though, humanity should be much farther along than to get giddy over financial peanuts. Even if you think your bonus is big, it's not.

If you take the "my job is better than McDonald's, therefore I'm successful" approach (i.e. glass is half full), it can help keep you mostly sane, but how sad to be an adult and have to lie to yourself like that?!

AI and robotics should have been heavily studied for years now as a concerted effort to relieve mankind from needing to work. Eliminating the need for humans to work should be civilization's shared goal, regardless of other differences.

But no, you lie to yourselves, and tell yourself that you're "doing well" even though you're not happy. You've perfected your fake smile though.

The best years of the only life you'll ever live - poof! Gone. All because you got duped into thinking that the act of performing work is somehow virtuous, when in reality it's neither virtue nor vice. It's just a waste of our time and lives.

We have failed ourselves and future generations. We could all be living healthy and comfortable without needing to go to a job. But we insist on pretending to be happy paid slaves instead. Weird!

If other life exists beyond our atmosphere, it won't be impressed with our intelligence.

"AI and robotics should have been heavily studied for years now as a concerted effort to relieve mankind from needing to work."

Almost every business in the country is looking to leverage AI to eliminate their human work force, and zillions of dollars have been invested to advance that goal. What do you mean by "should"?

"Eliminating the need for humans to work should be civilization's shared goal, regardless of other differences."

You should be much more concerned about the potential negative outcomes of this than you appear to be. Eliminating the need for work is a lot like finding a cure for death. Sounds great, until you realize that it eliminates all sense of urgency that humans have. We would rapidly devolve and our collective advancement would come to a screeching halt.

The reason we don’t live in a utopia is because the world is ruled by demonic forces who feed on our sadness, fears, and anxiety.

You're wasting your life writing paragraphs of glib tilting at windmills, OP.

You should direct your weird smug attitude toward people actually defending the insane American work ethic, and not just those critical of glorifying layoffs so the elites can make more money kicking humans to the curb to save a buck on sh---y chatbots.

OP here. None of my post was AI-generated.

It's funny how people think they can spot obvious AI content, especially if they disagree with the message. Those replying all got it wrong. That's what happens when you overestimate your intelligence.

It's not that complicated. Too many of you are hopelessly duped into thinking that you're doing well. You're not. You're a paid slave that fakes happiness.

It didn't/doesn't have to be like this, but Americans would rather argue about individual political issues (that will never change) instead of seeing the value in banding together for a better existence.

By all means though, keep groveling for your tiny raise while picking your boss's curly short hairs from your teeth.

Yep, you sure are smart and successful ... 🙄

OP interprets any criticism of AI as someone advocating for work? No wonder he has to have a robot paraphrase things for him if he’s that unable to parse reality.

OP had to invent a straw man and then asked a chatbot to tear it down lmao.

There are a lot of cranks on here, but I've never seen any of them argue in favor of working instead of living in some Star Trek utopia.
