Do you regret moving to hub with your family?

Title says it all. How did you overcome the change?

Mid 30’s / Married / No kids

We don’t regret moving and love it here in Dallas. The moving package provided by my org was more than fair and well handled.

To note: 5 days a week in office is ki-ling employees that have worked here since before the pandemic. Traffic flows were noticeably less at the time and people felt okay buying up in Plano.

I mention this because a re-lo allows you to reset how many hours you spend in a car weekly and the traffic in LA and ATL is pretty terrible too!

“Not at all. Sold our previoud home for a little over double what we paid for it and bought a smaller home in the Dallas suburbs since we wanted to downsize anyway.”

Nice flex, most people aren’t in your shoes. That also tells me “paid off” and “downsize” that you are probably well past retirement eligible - why didn’t you take the severance and retire? You could also get an easy job if you want to continue working, for healthcare, you can go on an exchange (it’s cheaper and better than what we have).

No regrets. More career opportunities at hub location after years of isolation working at home during covid.

Told them I wasn’t gonna move and basically said fu-k off.
Told my director I had enough money saved up for years, and could pay off my home if need be.

Needless to say, they gave me virtual and I’ve been chilling at home ever since.

Did not relocate, and somehow I am still here. Been working from home from the day I was notified. Manager and Director said we'll do it one day at a time until we are told otherwise. It is evident my team lost too many so that may be the reason for my extended period in limbo.

“ That’s exactly what the company is looking for regrets - for domestic US managers, they want us all to be miserable, specially those above 50 they want you gone. That’s the endgame.”

Nope. Close enough to commute and still scooped up $50k for moving costs.

Well you probably took a bath financially moving. Lost your cheap interest rate, had to buy a much more expensive home at a higher rate and much higher payment. Yeah no way would i move. Pretty sure you could have stayed home, took a pay cut and came out ahead.

From Chicago to Dallas. Once targeted, got a new job at T in Hub location and now i’m untraceable as an original target. Got a new home and now I got it made in shade. F Stankey. I’m invisible, invincible, and will get my full pension. Take that up your a$$ Stankey. You $u-k.

@OP Only regrets - did not move as family just commuting and staying in motel and paying my salary to trashy motels and airlines in the name of non existent collaboration.
