I'm going to start doing what I can with the resources that I have and if they don't like it and want to fire me, fine.

The OP is making a good point. Jobs are cut every 2 weeks and the work doesn't stop. So, those left are asked to do more without the staff that used to do it. It's demoralizing and we aren't thriving.
Well, how long have you been doing this? A lot of groups have been doing that for years, before CS and was just a way of life. However, the payoff was or is better.
This board is turning into a couple of bootlickers shooting down everyone's posts.
It's weird when people that consider themselves to be 'smart' essentially argue in favor of the company that has zero respect for them. The bootlickers are likely shut-ins, misery-loves-company crowd, etc.
OP - The bank provides next to nothing, but laughably wants the world in return. Your approach is the only sane way to proceed.
