@bx They've long since taken over my group, and with each passing year we've become more and more useless. But we produce some great colored graphs and pie charts with big numbers to upper management!

Direct line managers in no way have a choice on the layoffs but do be clear many of them sure get the lube out when it comes to the India overlords. It doesn’t help when they empower those mo--ns so much that they think they are in charge or actually know something.

I am in no way trying to defend some of the terrible management in this place but let's be clear - your direct manager usually has no say in layoffs.

One of my co-managers refused to lay someone off during the last round and our Managing Director said ok, hold my beer.
