Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Not enough work

Work in a LOB that will be laid off sometime before end of year. Our overseas replacements are up and running and now there's hardly enough work to go around. How does the bank benefit by holding on to a group of people who are, at this point, being paid to do less. Not that I'm complaining, more than happy to get a paycheck for doing half the work. It doesn't make sense that we're still around. Obviously it's a matter of weeks now, but why wait?

Funny. Our overseas partners (dotted line) have been in place for years and they don’t do much of anything. Some task that one of us stateside could get done in a couple hours, they (working together) take a week to complete.

We are 6-9 months away from eliminating the menial work that they do, so I don’t know what function they’ll serve then. But a pointy haired boss will probably let some of us stateside go instead of them.

@c1+1k13ehvba OP isn’t being tormented, he’s getting paid to do half the work. You didn’t even get the point of the post and you’re projecting your own insecurities on it.

@op , to answer your Q, it doesn’t make sense but this is big business. Not a mom and pop shop where decisions can be made on the fly. The exit of your team was planned many months if not years ago, timelines were defined and everything was scheduled around that. You only see the headcount expense at your level, but assume it’s a solid option to cut your dept now, that could push some other groups departure schedule up or down, overload the termination staff, whatever.

We don’t know what we don’t know. Best to ignore it, ride it out and collect that loot.

Tormenting employees leads to more voluntary terms, and that's ALL Shart wants from his American workers. It's the top objective. EVERYTHING runs through that lens. Everything.

Sounds like you are at the end of your career at Wells Fargo. Consider using this time to upskill yourself.
