Post layoff career transition services

Any one found career transition services useful other than ther one time resume review and bunch of events? I had been assigned to a very lazy unresponsive coach who never answers mails. Only communication I get from her are some general group emails sent periodically. Very u professional and not at all committed. It’s like rubbing salt on the wound. Very frustrating

Didn’t use them. The tool they assigned me to lied to me. I reported him and cancelled my membership.

Following what @f6 said.. feel free to use this chatGPT prompt. I am a a banker who has been laid off after 12 years from a large regional bank. During severance I have access to D&B Hoovers. Could you map out a step-by-step job search system using D&B Hoovers or more appropriate tools that includes email templates, company targeting, and a follow-up cadence?

You can and should request a new coach. You’ll get out from the service what you put into it. I could have done a lot of the job search steps myself but I got some great tips on how to prepare for an interview, my coach and I practiced on responding to questions, etc. the free access to D&B Hoovers is great. You can also request to extend the benefit, especially if your coach wasn’t any good.

I kept getting template emails asking me for my email address (sent to my email address btw). I’d reply to their request and just keep getting the same emails. The most recent email saying I was unresponsive. If that’s their level of competency, then I’m good.

I only found the resume service useful but since I had already refined my resume with AI they barely touched my resume. Most reformatted and changed some of my action verbs.

They offer free access to LinkedIn learning for the duration of the program.

@ae - We’re you successful finding a similar job ? Or did you have to settle for less ?

Use AI. Can't stress that enough. Get a skills list. Build your own business model. Do a SWOT on yourself.
After WF layoff I did their service. Nice lady coach, ok. Some of their resources are worth reading -- some not. Result - only one interview (well sortof). Zoom in to a nice Indy gatekeeper. One look at me (a post 60 white male). she said everyone was busy (they lie good!) and will rescheduled. Then I was ghosted.

@a4 - I have the resume service completed, so no point continuing with the other services ?

They are so bad that it makes you put extra effort in your job hunt. The resume service used to great but with ai. You can do yourself.
