Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Walking away was so worth it

You know that moment when your old team suddenly needs three people to do the job you were doing solo? Well, it happened. Management never listened, never cared, until I finally walked away last month. Now they're scrambling. I feel for my teammates but when it comes to those above, the schadenfreude is delicious.

Getting laid off was THE ABSOLUTE BEST thing to ever happen to me in the job market. I have found more happiness, More time with my children, freedom to do things that were put on the dreaded 'to do but can't get to' list. I'm about to publish my first book. There is beauty on the other side people.

They lay off too many people, then others get spooked about more work coming on their plate or if they will be next on the chopping block so they leak. Then the team capsizes and they’ve now spent more to replace what they got rid of than the money saved from layoffs.

This place needs a theme song and it should be ‘Shock the monkey’ by Peter Gabriel. ‘Watch the monkey get hurt… monkey’ you betcha!

This is what everyone is seeing and feeling right now ans ar mgmt doesnt care. You cant get reqs filled, they have outside teams suddenly touching work of yours they dont know and keep offshoring everything when india has zero clue what the process or systems do. I wish enough customers knew what was happening and would walk or threaten to walk if they don't fix the cr-p. The govt also needs to step in and stop the offshoring of U.S jobs
