Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Elevating how we term

Make no mistake that this decision is also fueled by desire to reduce headcount. They know many people will have to leave if they cannot make accommodations for the new RTO.

If they close office buildings, they’ll have to give severance.

Unfortunately, no. You choose to follow the work or not. You still have a job, just in a different location. If you choose not to go then you effectively quit. There will be no severance. That’s the whole point.

I agree! The comments in the video do not disappoint. Doubt it will do anything because they must have figured that we would react this way. They just don’t care!

That announcement yesterday was a whole bogus unfunny JOKE. Nothing about this is productive. Quietly trimming to cut costs while announcing a whole new "state of the art" NY "campus" makes no sense to me at all. I appreciated the comments under the announcement.

We Know Him. We Know the Playbook.

Let’s stop pretending this is new.
We’ve seen this before.
Sampath doesn’t transform companies — he manages the exit.

This return-to-office push? It’s not about collaboration.
It’s not about culture.
It’s about clearing the decks without calling it a layoff.

The Classic Moves
• Shut down offices
• Force people back in
• Don’t offer flexibility
• Wait for people to quit

All while smiling on LinkedIn about “agility” and “modern culture.”

If You’ve Been Here a While, You Get It

We’ve seen the slow bleed of talent.
We’ve seen contractors replace real expertise.
We’ve seen experienced people pushed out while yes-men get promoted.

None of this is surprising — because we know the pattern.
Cut costs. Cut heads. Cut ties.

This Isn’t About Verizon’s Future

It’s about Sampath’s future.
• Show Wall Street a leaner org
• Talk up buzzwords and margin improvements
• Exit stage left to a bigger title elsewhere

Meanwhile, employees are left picking up the pieces of a company that used to build things.

Final Word

This isn’t strategy.
It’s damage control wrapped in buzzwords.

And guess what?
We know him.
We know the record.
And we know exactly how this ends.

You can see how our stock responded to the RTO announcement.

It’s weird to hope for a layoff.

What a carefully crafted message to sound like they give a hoop about us. Hysterical I LOL the entire video. Tell me oh great wizard of oz - what is going to happen to all the employees who have WPA due to their “disability”? I work in an account management location and we typically only have 6 of us in the location because the entire other team works from home - never ever come to the office EVER they have WPA. Yet we are hounded that we must come into the office…why is this tolerated? Comical 😂😂😂

No question about it. Recent announcements have been today’s news, return to office, and fewer carry over vacation days. Clearly intended to cause attrition and eventual layoffs
