Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hans is a good dude

Seeing a lot of hate related to RTO, but he’s really just trying to make Verizon great again. Everyone needs to RTO and actually work. No more taking advantage of WFH and going to tennis lessons and Costco runs or hosting daycare from home. The hard truth is you are NOT more productive at home than you are in the office. Just RTO or find employment elsewhere that fits your needs.

If Hans and co had any bllz they would have gone 4 or 5 days in office. This now creates more uproar when they finally get to that 4/5 days in office stage. I am never going in a Vz office again and there is nothing they can do about since they converted one on my team to at-home because they whined enough. Legally speaking why them and not me?!?

@OP Agree. Employees spoke and leadership listened! Confused by so many people thinking that’s a bad thing.

@e0 what data is that? Sounds like total BS. I could come up with equal data stating how bad WFH is. It’s just one persons opinion against another. The decision is made, now get to the office and do some work.

@OP this highlights how the real problem is management. If this is really happening, fire them. They clearly aren't performing. But instead you drive on keeping these people employed? Learn to manage in a digital world and hold people accountable for their work. If anyone needs to be fired first, it's you for not doing your job and managing appropriately. The majority of workers are more productive at home than in office. The data proves it.

@d1

When employees resort to threatening each other over office presence, it speaks volumes about the company culture — and their own sense of job security. Productivity isn’t a badge swipe; it’s delivering value, no matter the location.

@b4 all of the data says this is wrong. Employees are better performers in the majority of cases working from home. AI will replace the majority of workers regardless of in office or not. They are particularly good at being good for nothing boot lickers so you're high on the list of replaceable employees.

@b7 if you don’t deliver results at the office then you don’t deliver them from home either. Try doing this tho. It’s all about identifying the slackers. You’ll be first out. Better you than me.

Hans is trying to trim the fat and right size the workforce. Too many people skating by hiding behind WFH and deliver nothing.

Fight the man and join the 99% by calling out or using PTO on 9/9!

@OP

If you’re going to defend RTO and Hans, at least don’t reduce the entire workforce to tennis moms and Costco dads. Productivity isn’t defined by proximity to a cubicle. If leadership truly wanted to “make Verizon great again,” maybe they’d start by fixing strategy, not scapegoating employees for policy whiplash.

WFH wasn’t the problem—bloated middle layers, inconsistent direction, and performative pivots were. If people are slacking, manage them. If they’re performing, empower them. Broad-brush mandates don’t show strength—they show lack of trust.

@OP lol adorbs. Can't wait to do nothing at the office. Some of us do 2 times the work from home, and have long before covid. Not being available 8 hours a week cause "sorry"... "driving" ... and all the coffee breaks and BS convos of no value to VZ... are great for me. Dunno who will do the work I used to, but not my problem now. 🤷

'There are many and plenty that will take your job in a heartbeat, and most likely do a better job. Get back in the office or get the heck out. I know high on my layoff list are RTO whiners. First opportunity, gone!'

You're the next one AI replaces. See ya

@OP If this is what you are doing when you WFH speak for yourself. The majority of us have worked more hours, getting on calls in the early AM or late evenings, lunch at your desk etc. If someone on your team is taking advantage they should be dealt with is not the work ethic of my team.

Troll or not OP is right. This will get worse before it gets better. If you don’t want to RTO you’ll have to find another employer. The writing is on the wall.
