There once was a time when one felt appreciated, with subtle niceties beyond the paycheck.
On a Friday, it was not unusual for the boss to say a little early, "Fella's head home. Thanks".
Prior to a vacation the boss would throw a 1/2 day your way, as a means of saying job well done all year - thanks.
They would even canvass you on a Monday asking if you'd like to work the following weekend - so you could plan - although if the latest forecast looked iffy, as if it was gonna rain, that might be rescinded.
Now, all I get are meaningless texts blowing smoke up my a**, thanking me for a job well done, like they're meeting some millennial-needed attaboy pointless metric with zero feeling behind it.
GPS bean-counters are watching it all, and su-king the humanity out of what was once a great place to work.
This place su-ks these days.
I miss the days of management versus craft softball games, where beer was provided and men were men.

Sadly most employees will sacrifice their health to 'pad' on more for their 'retirement' savings, even at the expense of everything else. For some, they realize their errors too late as they are just a number and easily replaced. Can't replace your health.

I HATE the superficial "Great Job Today!" pat on the back texts that are daily sent to this working dog. Same sc-m would suspend me tomorrow, if their "leader" told them to, as "there are no accidents".
