Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Abby stole my lunch money

And now, our $10 of dining credit goes away. Really nailing the re-entry program. Are they going to start charging for parking next? Pay toilets?

This isn’t hard.

Does the job require physical presence? No? Then make WFH optional.

If not, and the company doesn’t offset the cost of commute, added expenses and pollution when optionally requiring employees to come in, then we are being taxed and subsidizing the company and penalizing our communities.

It’s that simple.

Whether we always went in before, worked a six day week or smoked in the office is irrelevant. There are current problems, needs and solutions. We don’t use IBM punch cards anymore, so why commute when there’s only detriment?

Maybe we should do pay toilets so they can be cleaned more because they are disgusting! (Or maybe they could be cleaned more like they used to be, or maybe people can use the bathroom like adults.) Oh wait. My home bathroom is clean.

Difference is, someone would stay home instead going out in cr-p weather if they wanted to. And it didn’t, it fell on her while commuting to her job that required it. Same with many, many others.

We weren’t in the office 100% prior to Covid for years.

a tree could fall on you when you go out drinking on a Friday night too. Not sure how that should deter anyone from physically going to work. Are you that pathetic.

Not sure what the issue is. We didn’t a free lunch when we were in the office 100% prior to covid.

If Fido is your first or second real job, and you are unhappy, i highly encourage you to look elsewhere. Not trying to be an a$$ but not every company is right for everyone. Find a gig you like. Fid is great if you're in it for the long haul, but if not, maybe later in your career.

There was a news article recently about a young woman who died commuting from her job at a certain company (cough, cough) She was an hour away from the site. This is what people are talking about when they say people should be allowed to work from home. Commuting in general is dangerous. I can think of many colleagues who have passed this way, and that’s only when you happen to hear about it. Not worth $10.

It was just a trick to lure people back because apparently $10 of free food worked on some people. Now they don’t need to trick us because we have to go in. Dirty. Of course you have all the commenters thanking F for being so selfless and generous because they can’t see through it like some of us can. F is so rich, makes so much money. If some other companies don’t do it. That’s their game. Claim good benefits but only give a notch above what other places do. Pay us better.
