Anyone else noticing all of the BTC and Exoat boondoggle travel happening in December? Expats think they are clever to schedule trips at holidays and have the company pay their way back to the USA for their vacation. If you see an expat ask them if they are extending their trip for personal vacation or going back right away after the meeting. We both know what their answer will be. Funny how there is suddenly business value in stupid meetings that no one asked for but suddenly have to be in person.

Dude. This is a stupid post. Lots of year end meetings and reviews and “strategy meetings “ happens in December. Nobody is traveling without justification. Go pick on something else more relevant and informed. You are clueless and just whining that you aren’t traveling.

I very much doubt it would be approved for a meeting with travel on Company expenses and then Christmas leave. No manager would ever approve that because of the optics. What the manager could do is authorize a few days not counted as leave, that's about it
Especially when they can coincidentally time it to get the free extra trip home around Christmas...

Expats get a few “home” trips a year as part of assignment perks. It’s not unusual to see them travelling in Nov/Dec.
