Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Level of anger

Never seen so much anger for a LR in my life. It's how it was handled.

ER announcement before showing staff respect.
The weeks of waiting, for everyone.
The golf trip in the middle of it all.
The impending recession and recognition that many will be impact for a long long time.
Lies about how open positions are being filled with layoff candidates. Company is aggressively advertising outside for those positions.
No hiring freeze. Lots being brought on.
Know for a fact that high performers are being laid off and many are in areas not being aligned elsewhere. So, what is the criteria?

Never seen an LR like this one before. It defies decency, logic, business sense, people management methods, morale, and much more.

ELT who are behind this should be the first on the list.

its about who you know , not what you know, soft skills and kissing but is only way to keep at job, the level of fake on calls is funny, people on video pretending to care , its just a play reading script, you just push off work handed to you , doesnt matter if its good or not, just done. not your problem.

I saw no issue with the removed comments. Why were they removed? They weren't controversial.

Know for a fact that high performers are being laid off and many are in areas not being aligned elsewhere.

I know a lot of “top performers” there who objectively cost the company millions each through catastrophic yet obvious mistakes. If they have real talent they and the rest of society will be better off if they work in a better managed environment that can get the best out of them while curbing the worst.

You can either sit there and get picked off eventually or use the threat as a driving force to improve yourself and your situation proactively, which means continually developing new skills and jumping jobs as need be. If you are caught in a layoff you’ll have both the confidence and the competence to get another job.

I was "given the option to leave" (aka shown the door) in November 2020. It ended up being the biggest financial windfall of my entire life. Not only did I get the severance but I found a new job immediately so I also pocketed the money earmarked for health insurance. Plus a huge check for maxed out vacation even though I was always taking days off without using my PTO hours.

As far as I can tell, people getting affected will be let go after the New Year which should give anyone plenty of time to dust off the resume and apply for jobs. I got let go right before Thanksgiving and I still found a new job immediately.

People here are hitting the Cisco lottery, just like I did, and they actually have the audacity to complain.

what corporation has a CEO that cares about employees? outsource jobs to India and replace full-time employees with contractors

all companies are doing that... it's not Cisco specific

Nothing will change until a new CEO is hired that cares about employees unlike the current CEO who wastes company money so he can take a photos with celebrities

LR'd five years ago, and have been called twice in last week on two contractor positions from hiring agency.

Ha! I've been called by agencies for Cisco positions and I work there now.

Makes zero sense. Good luck folks. Obviously this is a numbers game, as usual. Hope they enjoy their golf game. Aloha!
