Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The atmosphere is very tense

I dread going to work every day but I still haven't received a new offer and I am aware that I will need a lot of luck with a horrendous economy like this to find a new job if I lose my current job.
That's why I'm so anxious. I wonder how far we are from more layoffs?

What did you think would result from helping, working with ford employees in asia, mexico, brazil, EU!!!!

All salary jobs will be outsourced, the last to go will be the plants for ice vehicles. Soon China will produce or direct manufacturing evs in low cost countries. LCC!

TVM saving will morph into paying foreign salary 30k, not 100k for US.

Electric vehicles are like slot cars from the 60's all the same but interchangable body, all produced by robots.

You will own nothing and be happy smoking weed, and playing video games in your parents basement........until AI determines humans are the problem.

Blah, don’t give up. There is hope. Husband was part of first round of layoffs that happened in August. It took him 2 months, but he received a $7K raise with an amazing company. God’s got this, you will be alright.

This is why you live below your means and always have an emergency fund or as the kids call it Fu-k You Money. You would think adults working for a Fortune 50 company would understand this; I learned this lesson back in the 80’s during those brutal self inflicted recessions when i saw my Dad sweat.

I was SISP ‘d in April and took my time finding a new job. - did not even start looking until September, took the summer off. I got my first offer in late October, started middle of November. Just got another offer with a start date of early January, and will know about a possible 3rd offer by middle of December with a mid January start date. And yes, the first two jobs are are with consulting agency, so k plan to work both through end of January. The third would be a direct hire job that would be 20k above what Ford paid me.

Thing everyone needs to understand here is I’m not bragging, I’m tell you basically what I have learned in my job quest is that experienced mature people that don’t need their hands held and can just dive in are in high demand , even during a recession. So most of you really have nothing to fear, you can put your notice in and find a job within two to three months.

Well, you don't hire 9k engineers in Mexico for no reason. On top of that they kept the PD center in Brazil open. So, say goodbye to salaried jobs in NA.
Brand new design center studio in Mexico makes Dearborn's look like Beirut.
I retired. I never believed the piece of garbage JF.
Born Liar. A pure political animal he is no way shape or form a product guy as he claims to be. His track record like BFs reflect that. Hey BF how is that train station coming along? What a waste of company funds. that whole BOD should be fired for allowing that to happen. Free Press and Wall Street give you a pass for your mismanagement.

@OP,

If you keep searching, you will find something. It may take time, and you may have to deal with rejection, but if you really want out, just keep applying to new jobs.

It took me about three months of constant job hunting to receive an offer that was a solid fit (for the new company and for me). I wasn't afraid to turn down things that didn't pay enough or weren't a good fit. And I didn't let rejections slow me down.

I applied to 100+ jobs. A lot of those were probably me just trying to keep myself sane. But it did help me polish my resume and gain confidence in interviews. And eventually it lead to a great new role.

I don't know what area you work in, but maybe consider industries beyond automotive or even beyond manufacturing.

If you're an employee hired before 1/1/2004, 2023 will be your last year at Ford.
This is true unless you're in the Design Studios. Farley and Lo need to eliminate plenty of ineffective and uncreative LL6,5,4. Starting with Lincoln design team, Copying Cadillacs and Range Rovers doesn't cut it. Who was responsible for the Continental fail and why are they still employed?!

If you were hired after 1/1/2004 you may be collateral damage in order to hide the above.

The goal is to have all GRP salaried folks out of company by 2024.

Next round of termination start at the end of 1Q. They will be done quietly, department by department as JF and DF outsource your jobs to low cost countries.
