IBM Cloud hit by fourth major outage since May as authentication failures expose systemic issues

Incompetence. Laziness. Hiring woke practices. Poor recruitment. Poor training. Viewing cloud as a low cost commodity best kept at minimal levels in a CxO Excel file.

IBM in decline now for 40 years (I was there for 25 from the 80s till recently) and it is a dumpster fire.

The saying "once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action" is a quote from Ian Fleming's James Bond novel Goldfinger. It reflects the idea that a single event might be random, a second occurrence might be coincidental, but a third instance suggests a deliberate pattern, possibly an intentional act or even hostility.

The phrase is often used in discussions about pattern recognition and troubleshooting, particularly when trying to discern whether a repeating issue is a random occurrence or a deliberate action. The principle suggests that seeing a pattern emerge after the third time warrants deeper investigation and concern, as it's less likely to be a random event.
In the context of the novel, the quote is used by the character Auric Goldfinger to explain his perspective on how to handle cheating in a game of canasta. He uses this principle to justify his elaborate cheating methods, suggesting that if something happens three times, it's no longer accidental and requires a more proactive response

@e6 it should surprise no one if Gary Cohn is/was playing the pump and dump game along with other executives at IBM. After all Gary came from Goldman Sachs. Who better to know all about trading than the guy who was the co-head of global securities businesses at Goldman Sachs in 2004 ? You can check his on-line biography out. Nothing should be ruled out when IBM executives play the market. After all, IBM Business Conduct guidelines do not apply to IBM executives as the Legal department looks the other way when wrongdoing happens.

Some say IBM Co Chairman Gary Cohn appearing on Mad Money etc may be considered pumping and dumping the IBM stock...

"Pump and dump" refers to a deceptive and illegal market manipulation tactic used to inflate the price of a stock artificially through misleading statements and then sell the shares at the inflated price for a profit. This scheme typically targets low-volume or microcap stocks and involves several phases:

Phases of a pump and dump scheme

Accumulation: Perpetrators secretly buy a large amount of a stock, often a low-priced microcap stock with limited trading.

Promotion (The "Pump"): They then inflate the stock price using false or misleading information, such as exaggerated claims, fake news, or coordinated buying.

Dumping: Once the price is high, the perpetrators sell their shares, causing the price to drop and leaving other investors with losses.

Warning signs to recognize a potential pump and dump scheme

Look out for sudden price increases without news, low-volume stocks with sudden high activity, aggressive and exaggerated marketing claims, paid promotions, unverified claims, and high-pressure tactics emphasizing urgency or secrecy.

How to protect yourself

It's crucial to do your own research, verify claims, and evaluate the company's fundamentals. Be cautious of unregulated assets like microcap stocks and small cryptocurrencies, which are more easily manipulated. Use reputable brokers and consider setting stop-loss orders to limit potential losses. Monitor trading volumes for sudden spikes and avoid chasing hype on social media. Seeking advice from a financial professional can also be beneficial.

Always be cautious and skeptical of investment opportunities that seem too good to be true.

Alvind is trying desperately to sink the IBM Titanic with his "IBM India Friends And Family" recruits, so he can take off with his looted bonus.

Not only are they incompetent, but the Indians are downright hopeless, running around like chickens without their heads. My dog is more proactive than Alvind's Pipmunks will ever be. Clouds are those fluffy white things you see in the bright blue summer sky, aren't they ?
