Market based employees have "hubs" all over the U.S. This is nothing new.

People should stop using the word “hubs”. This fixation on hubs, is this a hub, is that a hub or a quasi hub, is this hub closing etc. Enough.

T still owns and leases a lot of Real Estate. Like most things at T,there is no clear, well defined, time bound plan for all of this Real Estate. They cannot exit all of those leases or sell all of that Real Estate quickly. We can’t do ANYTHING quickly.

Sure, a blind man can see that if career longevity here at T was your main concern, you should probably get a job in Dallas. Beyond that…if you’re like me and you’re of a certain vintage, and have been here a while, and you’re NOT in Dallas…don’t sweat it.

Everyone keeps saying Atlanta is the hub, it’s a hub for now. I haven’t seen anyone move into Atlanta, I’m sure there are some instances here and there, but not like the Dallas moves. They keep moving jobs to Dallas from Atlanta. You aren’t safe in Atlanta either. Tons of people in Atlanta keep getting laid off and told the work moved. As for the renovations, pretty sure it’s the building owners covering those (not ATT).

The Chantilly location replaces Oakton, which was both at the end of its lease and a complete dump.

Chantilly primarily serves employees working on government contracts, which is why it's based in the DC area.

Meanwhile, many in “national” roles were forced to relocate to Atlanta or Dallas, so T no longer needed the oversized Oakton space.

This new building is part of a broader downsizing effort. It’s significantly smaller than before.

Don’t spin this as the dawn of some new regional office era—or as a sign that your own location is safe.

Don’t you worry one bit. I have talked about this for over a year. As the purge and culture transformation comes to a close, and we arrive at an employee base that “looks like our communities” the shift back to norm is, and has always been, just an email announcement away.

This is why Chicago, St. Louis, NJ, El Sagundo, and countless others were re-assigned locations out of state so they would quit. T never followed through with building closures. One thing you can count on T for is lying and cheating. Older, whiter employees, gone. Employees months from pension, purged off the payrolls.

Building consolidation and that laughable co-location lie. T is nothing but a loser company.

Southfield MI is the Midwest hub. Ridiculous amounts of money are being spent on renovations.
