Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Tired of chasing numbers

I keep hearing that things will get better but it feels like all leadership watches are spreadsheets. Goals keep climbing while pay sits still. I am already looking around because I do not think this place values people over metrics.

No things arent getting better and its intentional. The plan is to ensure they dont lose the people they need until AI is in place and until they can offshore your role. Everyone needs to start sticking it to them cause they are letting go of a nass number of people. 2500 by Dec and more next year. Thats why they are pushing automation as fast as they can and sending everything they can to India

Who is telling you ‘things will get better’?
Certainly not management. That would be an admission that this place truly is a fetid sewer.

This place doesn't value people, period.

They came up with an id--tic metric for programmers a couple of years ago, and we immediately wrote a script to generate hundreds of times more instances than a human could possibly do in a day. That didn't last long.
