Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Does WF do layoffs on a Tues. right after a holiday?

Us Oregonians think we will be laid off October 14 which follows the Tuesday following a payday which is what they’ve been doing typically. The thing is, October 13 is Columbus Day holiday so would Wells Fargo really lay us off the Tuesday following a holiday? Not sure what they’ve done in the years past with similar scenarios…

@bp+1k2xt0ra9, that's not true. Not only is it NOT a big, wave, layoff day - the volume of team members just up and quitting is very low also.

I hope it’s sooner, but in my group they have done NOTHING to prepare for replacing us and we’re in the middle of several huge projects, are understaffed and not hitting penetration goals, and are offering tons of overtime every week. They’ve known for TWO YEARS they were going to let us go and have done zilch to prep. They’re sc--wed when they let the ~80 or so of us go, and Helaire has not addressed this since he started. No hiring plan or contingency to get the work done when we go. He’s been so focused on micromanaging the individual contributors he hasn’t planned for big picture stuff at all. I think for our group, they will wait until the last possible minute, so end of October.

Sharing IMPORTANT information: If you are laid off, and 65 or older, you WILL GET the 401K Match! It’s one of the few exceptions Wells Fargo has in their displacement package. I have confirmed this with the displacement and Empower 401K Team. Make sure you follow up with them if you are displaced.

Yes. Holidays don’t factor into it. Never have. . Tuesday after payday is layoff day is all that matters

I would say it’s far more likely they cut y’all either this month or next so they don’t have to pay out bonus or 401k match.

It’s more than a “handful”. Historically it is certainly a smaller amount, assuming due to the loss of prep time and executioners taking long weekends. But layoffs still happen for sure.

Holidays mean nothing. No one is safe just because it is the day after one.

Generally no, but there can be a handful of layoffs on the Tuesday after a holiday.
