Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Les

When will LC be fired? He's non existent and IT is a complete disaster after the re-org. Morale in the toilet and there was no plan at all for what happened after the cut 50% or more of US staff. I've heard Engine is a disaster as well. Also wonder if MW will ever show his face again to employees. Only way to hear from him is to see him talk to Wall Street Sc-m on TV.

If “working means that they just converted our India contractors from US contracts to chevron India contracts with the same people, then sure.

The employees of engine are terrible. There’s no other way to spin it. There was no reason for IT to go to engine when those contractors in India were already part of our business long before engine

@gx “working” is a very vague term. It’s filled with temporary contractors because we can’t hire people who actually show up. The ones who do seem to be not the best and brightest based on my interactions with a couple of them in the IT function

@gx "it seems to be working", how so? Besides eliminating US workers.

Whoever is 'hearing' about ENGINE needs to go and see. I had thought the same but I have seen and unfortunately for all the negative publicity generated in this site, it's amazing to see what Chevron has accomplished so quickly with ENGINE so like it or not, it seems to be working

Les was brought in to slash and burn. That’s his job. He’s not there to be the CIO, he’s there to fire people.

Changes will not happen until 2027. The timeline is documented in the 2025 to 2027 IT plan.

Les will be fired when MW is gone. They need to see this engine thing through first. Even though it’s a disaster, they are saving money up front. Once we see the impacts on the back end (production loss, opportunity loss, etc.) that’s when we will see them gone. That won’t happen until we hire BCG, McKinsey or maybe Bain to finish off the consulting trio. It’s like your everyday job, try the best solution that will save money guaranteed within the next 3-5 years. After that it’s someone else’s problem.
