Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

23 year old managers making 105-125k

Did you know the development program “analysts” start out of the program around 120k compensation in their first full time role?

Do you think this is fair given their tenure and experience?

That’s kind of low.

Most sn0tn0se kids aren’t “worth” anywhere near that much. However, neither are (prima donna) pro athletes worth the mega-millions they make (like the C suite).

I joined as TDP - started a tad under 6-figures…after the program went straight to MTS due to my performance, making ~$150k

Senior MTS now and with bonus pulling just a tad under $200k.

With RTO and all the nonsense though, I’ve felt kind of stuck. Not a lot of room anymore for progression or advancement.

Been here about 5 years now and I’m looking for the exit, got a full remote offer from Square (Block company) for $250k full remote…

They get hired into the same positions available as anyone else - so the pay bands and scales are the same too. Whats the issue? Look at market rate for 2-3 year experience positions in large metros and the pay suddenly doesn't seem all that crazy. I emphasize with longtime employees still stuck at the same level as the program graduates, but thats not really on the program graduates. The path from Specialist -> Senior Specialist -> Senior is pretty clear. Also, I've seen a lot of the most talented graduates leave the company fairly quickly. People that AT&T should absolutely be trying to keep and help grow in their careers which is a shame for the company. I see a lot of snark by some people on here that the program members aren't actually doing any work, and I've seen that too - but I see the same thing all the time from people who've been here for 20 years and mentally checked out. Part of the problem is that managers are encouraged to post positions for TDP, but quite often they have no idea what work/projects to get them on so this issue goes both ways.

Damn straight it's fair. If you are so unhappy about the salaries, I hope you never figure out how little work there is.

@OP If you want to know what you should be getting paid after working 20+ years at the company and are not, than complain to your manager and HR. Why? Because H1B's are making a lot more than you are.

I used to make $100K at age 24, some 20 odd years ago, though it isn’t without any benefits though. So not too bad

I looked up what I was making at age 24 in today’s dollars and that salary lines up. $100k is not what it was 20 years ago.

Isn’t that just what that particular position pays?
It’s just the analyst position payband.

Entry software engineer also makes 6-figures.

They don’t get equity either, for a metro area and tech (which is where they will have to live due to 5-day RTO) this actually isn’t a very competitive wage.

More tech oriented companies usually start at TC > $200k/yr in metro areas.
