January's new turnaround time (TAT)

Has anyone heard how ELV plans to handle the new CMS regulation on TAT from 14 days to 5 days for acute UM?

@f4 difference is, at 14 days, they had some room to meet it, or not. They have been able to meet it just close enough to not get into too much trouble. Sometimes this place would rather pay the fines or get the penalties because it is "cheaper" to them then to hire people to do the job. With the 5-day TAT, it is going to be glaringly apparent if they cannot get it together. So, they will use those tactics in combination or one at a time to try to stop the bleeding. But it sounds like you and I both know that you can't put a band-aid on a gaping wound and expect it not to fail.

@ev since the current TAT cannot be met and has not for several years - .......setting a tighter TAT doesn't change a thing

@OP How they handle everything at ELV.

  1. the people who are currently doing the work will be expected to do more
  2. Their internal UM AI will be able to handle the work by then (Ha ha ha)
  3. Expand more UM offshore
  4. Auto- auth "at the discretion of management"
  5. hire contract workers
