Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Return to Office

A town hall last week focused a great deal on "evolution of work". Where the message was everyone should start coming in, with a mention of a mandate if they don't see it happening.

Heard some rumors today that Credit is being asked to start coming in.

Whats everyone hearing?

Rumors flying that must will be expected to RTO but end of March. Someone posted that here but looks like that comment got deleted. When I asked an LL3 I knew he jokingly said he can neither confirm or deny it (wink wink). He did tell me when RTO happens it will be a 4 days a week expectation.

Anyone else hearing this?

@Fpuk I can't speak for every function but our offices were always going to be assigned desks along with there being enough desks for everyone. Kind of what is expected when you consider we were in the office 5 days a week.

Our current office space only has enough desks for 50% of the people... and half of those desks don't even have a monitor. These are not the working conditions we would have if the pandemic never happened.

For those complaining about hoteling and the open concept. That was the plan long before COVID. They announced that when they announced the new campus build. That's what is so funny about those of you threatening to quit over RTO. Were you going to quit over it before the pandemic sent everyone home?

The new hotelling model is not conducive to meaningful collaboration. There is not enough space for everyone to even come in on the same day. The open concept means that the webex calls annoy everyone around you if the building is more than 20% occupied. There are so many remote people that webex is still essential. There is no way to reach critical mass. I love the new workstations and the new facilities in general, but the open concept and the lack of a stable location is flawed.

I do wonder how much of RTO is pressure from the cities that gave tax breaks to these companies in the first place. People in offices usually drives cash flow at local businesses, restaurants, etc.

so if we have to go back in to the office but some of your team members are now out of state is this fair... seems to me there should be options

Return to office, stop all meetings unless an issue occurs, sh-t can TVM, do it right the first time and allow the cost ops people to have the power to actually challenge the suppliers, have purxh and engjneers support cost ops.

For Ford Credit, the expectation in 2023 for S/E Mi is to come in 2-3 days a week, with the caveat that days and times continue to be decisions for individuals to make with their people leaders.

@1qgr+1k3rodVJ "A-s hats" is you and your mother: she should have given birth to you, instead of defecating you, you POS. Still in MI I see. That's why you have so much envy of others. Well, I don't regret my decision to move south. On the contrary, it was the best move ever.

I sold my house when prices were up. I bought in the South, where and when prices were Ok. My new house is worth more than what I paid for it. The weather is fine, and the people are friendly. My family and I have been enjoying the new state.

Since 2019, I started worrying with losing my job at FMC. Every day gets me closer to that point. Well, at least now I am living where I want to be. I am also applying for jobs. The job market is not great, but there are jobs. I don't have a pension tying me down to the company (bad move there, Ford), so RTO is not happening to me. Since FMC is so bent in screwing its NA employees around, I am going to be the one saying goodbye. Good luck with the lower cost region employees, Ford!

They should not use the RTO to get rid of older employees only. Spoiler alert you had a lot of older employees who went back to the office so that they could get away from home and sleep with their coworkers and also you should be watching those college grads FCDLPs that may have moved around to another state to be with their older coworker / lover. Just saying.

DF didn’t say RTO 3.5 days a week.

DF said leaders need to discuss meaningful cadences to meet on-site as needed for their teams. If these discussions don’t happen, then the Farleys of the world will impose a set hybrid schedule. We shall see though…

Well I guess the folks that moved down south during the work from home stage that sold there homes for inflated prices and bought at inflated prices will have a great time trying to move back or get a much less paying job out of Michigan. There where folks making comments about doing this on this forum for the past two years. What the he-l where you thinking that it would be work from home for ever. Great move. A-s hats. You will regret your decision soon enough.

It has always been the plan to use RTO to generate attrition particularly the older employees who have relocated during WFH era.

I am not sure if I'll be RTO. Why bother with it when I know short term I'll lose my job anyway? I am guessing in the next 3-6 months we'll see a "bloodbath": thousands of employees and contractors will be laid off. Until I know for sure that I still have a job, they can warm my chair in a Ford building all they want, because I won't be coming.

RTO is a stupid idea if your job doesn't require it. Forcing people will be counter productive for Ford.

I support DF's initiative to bring employees back to the office 3.5 days per week as rolled out today, if not the full week as we did for pre-Covid 19.

Experts say working in the office is very beneficial to a company's bottom line. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow Model e friends in person.

I have started showing up to Rotunda. It isn't bad nice bulding, but all of that was ruined by some LL5 b00mer a$$ho-e who started walking around everyone while talking on his phone at stadium volume.
We get it, the lake house up north is being remodeled. Take the conversation to one of the many enclosures. Also, have your hearing checked.

DF said today people need to start coming in on their own. If they don’t, they’ll mandate 3.5 days per week for everyone

What people don't appreciate is the fact that many salaried people went back to work when production restarted, not just in the factories but in the R&E center also. Engine testing was critical. Unfortunately with the EV mo--ns at the top, these employees in Ford Blue are now targets.

The funny thing is they actually said team members located HERE….
“ Our expectation is that team members located here come into the office two or three days a week. “

I guess I live in Florida now.

With 70% of engineering jobs being off-shored why come into the office? It's all WebEx meetings. When I was in office (pre-COVID) the majority of my customers were off-shore, very little face-to-face contact. I thought part of the remote work plan was to save money by shedding buildings, property and decimate local engineering.

Everyone needs to be back in office so managers can start identifying who goes on PEP. Farley must cut a few more thousand from NA ranks.
Directors are all visibly concerned, they know they're about to be culled.
Ford Blue and Next are at the top of the list.
Good luck to all.

Probably about time considering those who "work from home" are difficult to contact during normal business hours, seem to always be driving in meetings, several people admitting they were on the boat or stepped away from golfing to take a call. It's about time they actually start pulling their weight. We have cr-p reliability & cr-p quality because people refuse to lay their eyes and hands on the products and relay on people sending them pictures. People even telling the dock workers that they are out of state and cannot come in to get their packages. People are abusing not having some kind of supervision.

Again, for the hundredth time. For what? Was at the Rotunda center walking around. You know what I saw , people sitting separately in silence with headphones on, and on Webex. None of this random hallway creative conversations. Just the same heads down desk isolation that existed before COVID. All this is about is controll and repression.
