Is Intel the new IBM?

Leadership has failed in so many things here.

@2wnf+1k4WTZiW I said 50:50, only if they lucky and fire Pat and get an ACT2 maybe they have a chance. Jensen or Lisa could save the company. There is a reason they didn’t hire Johnny! It took so long and they got religious fanatic.

Intel needs a leader and visionary. You think IDM 2.0 and IFS is visionary or is desperate denial and despair longing and praying to return to a moment 15 years ago when that pivot would have worked.

IBM would be a best case scenario for the future trajectory of Intel. Intel’s core competencies are in dwindling markets where competitors are making major inroads. And the company’s forays into growing markets have been embarrassing failures so far. The best thing Intel has going for it is that the US government sees it as an important recipient of industrial policy subsidies and handouts.

@1jda you give them 20 years? I say no way to that. 3-5 years tops the place will be broken up factories from development. After that, both will fail and be M&A’d away.

Let’s be honest IBM has something that we still need.

Intel has nothing, if they were to disappear the world wouldn’t miss a beat.

Intel likely is the DEC of this generation.

I give them currently a 50:50 in twenty years to be hanging around as irrelevant as IBM, more likely than not talked about like DEC

Yeah the story of IBM is a very sad tale. Had some great technology back in the day, but like dinosaurs, mainframes and department mini mainframes are no more. Xerox, Polaroid, Digital Equipment Corp., Cray, so much carnage
