Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

Next round of VLO

Is another round happening this year? Given share price more simplification is required?

@493 But it's been like this for years....Hr having no clue on what they do.
I wonder why we have Hr? Cause the basic stuff they do can easily automated with AI.....(Or just simply automated)

@48f absolutely, matches my experience as well. I was shocked when they asked me to work in their systems as they were unsure how it works themselves...

@34q HR has become a complete joke in this company since the last round of HR SLT changes. Instead of actually supporting the business, they just hide behind policies whenever a question is asked, and they’ve outsourced most of the core responsibilities that HR should be owning. It’s gotten to the point where even backfilling roles requires line managers to manually key in all the details into the system — basically forcing managers to do the work HR partners are paid to do. Frankly, it’s absurd and makes zero sense.

@3q9 within 2 weeks of application you typically received an answer. I know of a few who didnt but thats because there was some intervention from the VP lead of the future org setup.

Does anybody know how long it took them to review and approve/reject the VLP application in the first VLP round? We’re yet to hear of the fist batch of early applicants getting their VLP approved or otherwise

During the VLO and after the VLO, our team got rid of people or “positions” with actual skills and experience to do the job, while making up a new non-specific job title in the new structure to keep a person who is ‘trusted’ and a friend of the current head of the team, but had less skills & experience in that job and team. As for the rest of the people kept, most were either trusted or buddies. It was so clear to see that this whole process had so little to do with actual skills and so much to do with covering as--s. You could not make this stuff up.

People are okay with it when they are the favourites and complain about it when they are suddenly not a favourite. You either reject the system totally or don’t complain about it. I know few colleagues got their promotions via favoritism and acted passive aggressive towards others when they were not favourites with the new management anymore.

@37c+1k4fk9x81 Has ever been a time it was not favoritism?

Employees rejected in the earlier VLO are still waiting for their roles to even be defined. Meanwhile, internal job postings are quietly replacing old roles with zero transparency. The new structure is a mess—lot of duplication, inefficiency, and blatant favoritism. Employees with no knowledge or interest are landing roles just because they play some sport and have dinner with the hiring manager on weekends. Promotions are being handed out without interviews, purely through personal favoritism. It’s an amazing brand for consumers, but a frustrating and unfair one for employees.

HR barely functioning, worked with them closely and it's incredible how low the standards in HR work are... but instead of layoffs this whole process needs to be adjusted, hiring is a nightmare with such unprofessional HR teams

There won’t be a shortage of VLP volunteers in the HR partner teams. Career progression is a nightmare unless you’re willing to sell your soul and climb the social ladder, or go running with the CHRO.

Any details on which teams within HR, Finance, GBS and POPS are impacted by this round?

@db you need to be more realistic. We’re not doing well, after all it is a business. When times get tough it is always a possibility that people will get let go and if it happens even just once, there is a greater chance it happens again if things don’t improve. Any day, any time. Just because someone says everyone is safe or people were just let go recently doesnt mean that there isnt the possibility of it happening again. Get those resumes ready, just in case.

@db that’s very trusting of a company that changes its mind faster than a newborn baby gets its diapers changed

it is and will be a mediocre job paying the bills. Times when it was "cool" or stable or you could rely on the company and forget about looking sideways to focus on the work and goal properly are long long gone. Leadership is selfish, pursuing their personal goals, playing LinkedIn influencers... so basically think for yourself and jump off when it's time to, easy

The whole VLO thing was really not fair or transparent in many cases, plus the weird reorgs if the boss hated your guts and wanted you gone.
It will take months if not years for employees to trust this company. Fir many this was the wake up call to understand is just a mediocre job paying the bills.

@db+1k4fk9x81 People are doing & feeling exactly what a decent human being would do & feel under these conditions. You need to chill

It’s like people don’t listen or don’t want to listen.

They already said many times there are no more VLO planned this year, at least in Herzo. It’s September already, we just barely finished the last one. A lot of people had their official last day just a week ago.

And jeez, the stock prices is influenced by many different factors, including some that no one can control, like tariffs. The last business update if you saw it explained quite some about it. adidas stock is not the only one that has changed priced lately and it just had a 5% bump.

People need to chill.
