Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Work Where You Work Best

Notice how empty the office is now? Rules are changing. The whole RTO experiment has run its course. The truth is simple: the office is there if you want it, and home is there if that’s where you do your best work. That’s how it always should have been.

If you thrive around people, head to the office. If you’re more productive and less stressed at home, then stay there. Neither option will be punished. Results matter, not zip codes or badge swipes.

The future isn’t about forcing one size fits all rules, it’s about trusting employees to know where they perform best. No more fear, no more micromanagement. Just do your job well, wherever that may be.

They will waste NO time replacing all the people who do not want to work nor appreciate the job the company gave them.

As AI takes over, return to work is to see who to keep, and who to replace with the many young generation ready to come to the workplace and abide by the rules

Parking is definitely easier at Alpharetta than it was earlier in the year.

Actually seeing more this week not less pop in. Early bird gets a desk.

Cruised the parking for 10 minutes before a spot opened up. Took about that long to find an open desk. OP is expressing their wishful thinking, not reality.

Ummm no, they just stopped/ease up on tracking exempt employee hours because they legally cannot do so and they are just afraid of being sued big time. They already got sued in CA and they can smell another one coming if they keep on doing the 8hrs tracking for exempt employees. Other than that, office present is still being tracked like a hawk eyeing its next meal.

Number of people fired for being productive employees while working from home? Still zero.

I’d recommend maybe waiting to hear this from your Boss first.

Hint: that is not imminent.

It almost seems like someone is trolling here, saying “oh, it’s over, go ahead and WFH” and when people fall for it, they get fired because the report said you weren’t in the office 8 hrs. This is yet another tactic to get the next batch of naive employees out without severance! Do not believe fooled!

"If you want to lay me off over badge swipes"

It won't be a layoff, it will be a fired with cause.

Since May/June I WFH now and just let my boss know that I’m able to do more and better work in a private environment. If they don’t like it they can confront me. It’s been 4 months and nobody has said a word. If you want to lay me off over badge swipes rather than results then this isn’t a good place to work and I’ll take my talents elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.

Nothing has changed at Lenox except they keep shuffling the head count around.

They are not going to do anything officially until they get to the headcount number Wall Street wants. But my policy has been to work where I am most efficient because that is what is best for the stockholders and the customers. Top-down ego trips and constructive dismissal tactics we just need to ignore. If there are metrics to be gamed to make this happen, it is 100% morally justifiable to do so. If they fire me for that, I accept their decision and will take my expertise elsewhere.

@OP nope the offices are not more empty at all. Some people have been moved to other buildings, others are retiring (quitting) or layoff, that’s all.
I still see though that people leave laptops on and go out, I mean out for hours and not for hour lunch.
No changes.
