If there ever was a time to drop this place like a hot potato, it's now.

@ax
that's the problem. all decisions are made at the very top, by spreadsheet
As just one example of many, I heard that every single position requisition has to be approved by TPO Bob himself
This is crazy micromanagement
no wonder why this place struggles to innovate and execute anything successfully
I really like my coworkers and what I am working on.
but it's a big drag that the bigger company is so disorganized
this company could be a lot better if they would push decision making downward
what's the line? decisions are best made by the people closest to the problem
Talk is cheap. If you are serious, and confident that you can walk into a new job where you approve of higher management and that is more important than anything else a job has to offer, then off you go.

@OP nah. I’ll wait on severance. I honestly have a great team and support system and love what I do. Kick me out if needed, but I’m not jumping ship because leadership can’t get their sh-t together. If I was desperate or had a toxic work environment, I’d be gone. Thankfully, that’s not the case and I see it as a blessing I’m not willing to part with on my own. These layoffs can’t be taken personally. Do your job, focus on saving for emergencies, take time to speak to colleagues and collaborate (vent if needed), but if one door opens have faith that a better one will open. Outside of that there’s not much you can do. Control what you can and let the rest work itself out. Cross the bridge when you get there BUT be prepared!
Then leave.
