Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

LR: been there; done that. Fear not.

Lots of (rightfully so) nervous people right now. LR'd myself, now five years ago.

It was a tough journey to go through. If you take your job at Cisco as seriously as I did, you are going to have some tremendous ups and downs in 2023; if affected.

Now five years out; I can honestly, wholeheartedly say, it was probably one of the best life changes.

My advice for those who will take the journey: buckle down and try to really figure yourself out, as an outcome of all this.

All and all, it is just work, and this is just business, and less than good fortune will inevitably affect us all, in different ways, as we each progress through our lives.

So have a beer, a bo-g, a burger; or whatever you need to get through this crud; and sooner or later you will be back on track.

No problem kids.

Mommy has been puking all night and has to go away for a while.

Sorry about college. Good luck.

Daddy can't afford his heart surgery now and is going to die.

He was out of work for 5 years due to a LAYOFF LIKE THIS and a disability and treatment that drained all the savings. He does make near min wage for a handicap job. But that doesn't even cover the grocery bill now, thanks to inflation.

No, you don't always recover from a layoff. No it isn't always better. Sometimes it is life ending.

But, it's ok. As long as a few executives get their super sized bonus. That's what matters.

(FYI, the issues above are actually true and not hyperbole. Some people at Cisco probably know who this is and know I'm writing truth about what is going on in our lives)

Thanks Cisco. Thanks R. I can't believe you did it again. See you in HE-L.

For the last 12 years, I have not had one year where people were NOT scared about holding onto their jobs at Cisco. Yet, it is the best place to work. Go figure!

It's the affect on kids that's the worse though.
