Gary Moore set span of control at 6-8 direct reports when he was COO. That was because, at that time (2015?), there was a rash of directors with only one, or no, direct reports. People had been made directors purely for pay reasons and GM/JC wanted to ‘flatten the organisation structure’.

"why does this matter for this thread?!?"
Because they are claiming span of control issues for letting people go
Span is typically 8 or so.
If you’re an exec and you have only a couple, you’re in exec timeout and you’ll be gone soon.
6-8. Any more and you're not really leading them.
why does this matter for this thread?!?
More than 10, the number depends on the role. If one manager has 7 direct reports while another has 10 direct reports, there is an extra manager.
If you have professional employees then it can be up to 20. If they are not professional then manage them out.
It’s a trick question. Cisco doesn’t have managerial leadership.
FFS! Google it ...it is everywhere
It used to be 8. Hasn't been enforced in years.
