Why all the time and energy spent on TVM???

Shft can TVM it is a distraction from real work and doesn't represent actual cost reduction. Get purchasing out of the mix. Allow cost ops to follow all change so tvm isnt needed. This keeps cost ops close to the supplier and forges a better relationship. Never allow upr mgt to subvert cost ops just to rush late changes. Tooo simple.

Most high value TVM ideas are content and feature related. If the program CNE, marketing and studio actually had a much better idea of competitive offering and justified features, content and complexity, we wouldn't be removing content after launching vehicles. Twice the engineering efforts and potential for quality issues after re-engineering. No one is held accountable. Who asked for a RWD Explorer?

You have to ask…who gets the tv or bottle of scotch from what supplier at Christmas (or other times of the year) Then you will know how cost decisions are made.

Cost ops should be present at the supplier and all eng and design meetings. Engineers move on but cost opps is always there. Never never allow any ford employee to take the side with suppliers over cost ops.

WHEN THE SUPPLIERS LEARN THIS BREAKDOWNS WILL BE ACCURATE AND COSTS WILL COME DOWN.

Purchasing is the problem, all the horse trading muddles up the true cost of parts, assemblies,materials,& processes. Expand cost opps
