Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

10/14 or 10/28?

If Wells Fargo offered a 10/14 or 10/28 layoff (which they wouldnt), but just curious which u would take. 10/14 wouldnt offer the 401k match and 10/28 would. No judgement here, just wanted to get a feel for which u would take if given the opp.

No hiring will be done in early December. Getting paid 2 more weeks plus the option of taking a bigger Christmas holiday off leaves this an easy choice.

10/28. Two more weeks of pay for doing very little. Two more weeks to further obfuscate documentation and turnover artifacts. Win/win.

Later is better since you get paid for longer, plus passing the thresholds for 401k match and bonus eligibility.

I’m confused at how earlier is better in any way? Especially since a real-world version of this hypothetical would require that the 10/28 option would mean two additional weeks of pay beyond the date you’d know you need to start looking for a new job. Unless you just hate your job so much you can’t stand to be there an extra two weeks and would be willing to give up a sum of money equivalent to ~9.8% of your base salary to be rid of it sooner.

We know it's coming, maybe even today, but it doesn't stop the anticipation and the endless anxiety that has come with it every other week for over a year. It's draining mentality and emotionally. So it'll be a relief, a mercy to finally cut the cord.

If the option was given to stay until 10/28 then yes I would. Considering the drag out of getting laid off.I have learned alot in my 10 years at Salem.
Pto given at start of year will never be matched in my opinion. Sad my job is ending but the customers are different now. Cold, rude and not self efficient as much as the should be. A break is needed as I just want to know the actual date of layoff so I can make plans for the end of year.

Are you asking would we stay two more weeks to get, let's say, an extra $6k?

Is that a trick question? It’s at least… a stupid one.

Of course you’d slug it out in the pig stall for a couple more weeks. Assuming you had material contributions to match.

10/28. I don't think i would be able to get another job in this market. 401k contribution will be useful in the future.

Pros and cons to both dates. 401k match would be great. However, my job is currently unbearable. Just as long as it happens, that's all I really care about. It was nice to have notice about the Hillsboro OR closure but the notice was way too long. It was hard on many of us.
