New to EM- How does relo work?

I am a campus recruit and just got an offer to move to Houston. However, the only thing I see is a lump sum allowance, but no mention of MEA. I thought new hires would get the lump sum+MEA. Has that changed or MEA will come later?
What other relocation benefits should I expect. All my letter got was a lump sum.

2016 relocation. There were two relocation “bonuses”. A non-specific expense allowance, NEA and a lump sum, miscellaneous expense allowance, MEA. The NEA was equal to 1.25 x monthly salary. The mea lump sum had two numbers calculated by some program called Runzheimer? Or was this some company? The higher number by approx $5000, was if we bought a home within a year from start date and the lower number was for a rental. I recall we rented up front, got the $15k and change and after signing a contract on a home, got the rest through reimbursement.

COLA was also calculated through Runzheimer.

There was home loss, home sale incentive, house hunting trip, pet lump sum, closing costs on both ends. The lump sum was in lieu of dealing with receipts for meals, hotels, etc. etc.

Both the NEA and lump sum were grossed up for taxes.

I do recall there being relocation tiers. I thought my package was the middle tier?

The company paid for my relo many years ago. I recall they paid for the movers and the hotels while I look for housing. The gave me a lump sum to cover miscellaneous expenses. If MEA means miscellaneous expense allowance, then that is what the lump sum is for… so they don’t have to haggle over the other expenses. The lump sum is estimated based on how many people in the family needs to be moved. EM also provided a realtor to help find housing. The hiring manager did mention that the company can also help my spouse to find work. We didn’t need it. The lump sum had strings attached. (I had to stayed employed with EM following move for X number of years or I pay it back. Other than that, it was pretty simple. The only other thing is selling and buying a house which I’m not sure what the practice is these days.

I am purely going by memory so I suggest you talk to the HR person. A layoff site is not the best place to get this type of information.
