Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Over 40 decision time period

If you are over 40, you have a long time to decide to sign the severance agreement. Don't feel pressured. Even under 40, you must be given adequate time to seek counsel.

Don't rush it. Get advice. Join with others. File complaints.

We keep seeing the same kind of posts, ones that discourage people from learning about their rights. The company knows that it is practicing age discrimination and other forms.

They also know that if enough people fight back that they face a huge problem.

So, you see the suppression efforts such as the preceding posts and many other attempts.

Stare at the package details all you want, but Cisco is very good at this (LRs). Very little, if any, room for discussion. Just saying.....been through it myself. It sucks, but take the money and move on with life.

Don't let company shills manipulate you into signing before spending the time to really understand the package and what your options are.

If you are being rushed, ask for more time. Put your request in writing. If you are 40 or older and your employer is asking you for a decision in fewer than 21 days, remind the employer that the law requires you to be provided at least 21 days. (If you and at least one other person are being laid off in a reduction in force (RIF) at the same time, you must be given 45 days to consider the agreement.)

45 days
