Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Branch Banking/Management Role

For those who work in Branch Banking, please share your truth when it comes to staffing and what you are seeing in the branches. These threads are monitored by WF as we all know so instead of using Loudspeaker and it goes nowhere, throw your frustrations/struggles/concerns out here. I will start-

Staffing, 2 or 3 people in the branches, helllloo MAJOR SECURITY CONCERN, pulling staff from other branches to help branches with little to no staff THUS making not one but now TWO branches short staffed, constantly rolling out alerts and updating procedures nonstop - how can we keep up!!!! Eliminating SVM positions so now the BM has to do all of the coaching PLUS operational tasks, & on top of that - TRYING to get your team engaged to help out and succeed but "hey, it's not my job" attitudes. "pay me more"

I don't want to leave WF, I have worked my a-s off for this company but I am just about at my whits end. I am young and can take my talents elsewhere for a company that actually CARES. If any managers out there have any advice on how to be an effective leader with all of the day to day operations constantly piling up - I AM ALL EARS.

End rant.

WF does not live/breathe only the people within the brick walls. Don’t overwork yourself, you won’t get equal reward. I’d look at other options like someone else mentioned. If you want to stay, focus your time and energy on only the things upper mgmt will see/recognize. Let all the other stuff go. Overextending yourself to give 100% on everything will hurt you, not help you.

In the late 1970s, some of the branches in the southwest had Topless Teller Day on Fridays.

(Back then, it was shameful for a man to be a teller. That was decidedly a woman's job.)

Most people got paid weekly back then, so it was just a given that you got paid on a Friday. So, a lot of the tellers (even the married ones) would do their shift totally topless.

As a customer, you weren't free to touch, but you could stare as long as you wanted to.

Kids weren't allowed in the branches on these Fridays. Minors that didn't follow orders back then were usually slapped pretty hard by strangers. (It was just a different time.)

This never happened in the Midwest or East Coast though. AZ/NV only - the two best states in the union for a whole host of reasons.

If you go back further in time, to the 1950s, that was a different time too. Cars ran on leaded gasoline, and men in their 40s married women less than half their age. This created what were known as spinsters, who later marched in the second wave of feminism in the 1970s.

Anyway, that's enough story time for now.

I am seeing a lot of procedual mistakes and errors due to bankers doing transaction approvals on top of assisting cusotmers. Branch managers , many of whom have never worked the teller side, have other duties and many times are covering at other locations.
Big mistake to elimante service managers.

I think you just described the branch banking industry regardless of which company. They are all going through similar issues

My wife used to work for WF as an assistant branch manager. She ended up taking a position as an office manager for one of the her customers. She is much, much happier. You have options. Good luck!

Leave big bank banking. It is a bureaucratic nightmare. The only purpose of a big bank is to serve the owners and UPPER management (EVP's and above). Everyone else is a modern day slave.
