What are the chances that if I have no meeting set for today I'm safe?

You never hear the one that gets you.
It depends on your manager or "leader" , some of them may hide it to the last minutes and try to squeeze last drop of juice out of engineer to be layoff.
Did they they say on the Thursday all hands that the letters would trickle in, not all on Monday morning?
What a way to have to live...
Give it the entire day. Then pop the bubbly.

Give them a chance, it takes time to ruthlessly and heartlessly make people unemployed right before Christmas, sorry ... rebalance the investment because they want to be compassionate and offer everyone a 121 meeting.
I know I'm probably grasping at straws, but you can't blame a guy for being hopeful.
