For those "Company people" out there... If you haven't realized by now that you are just a number and a bean in the bean counters list, you are in for a rude awakening. For all of you that worked all those "Extra hours" gave up family events to make a name for yourself on a regular basis, and drank the kool aid that working hard gets you someplace here, I feel bad for you. Its not what you know or do, its who you know...This (and most companies) will suck the life out of you, suggest you work harder to move up the ladder, and in the end, you become the unnamed bean in the bean counters list... when your time is up, they will let you go and never consider what you did, how many times you did it, what your worth is, how much money you saved the company, you will just be left to sit and stew for many weeks and worry over if I am the "one" that is going to get the pink slip. They do not care what is going on in your life or all the Life events you gave up to make this company a better place, you just sit and worry... Then, when that terrible day comes, no one cares, you just have to start over again. If you are among the lucky that don't get the ax, I implore you to stop giving up your life for this place, they do not care for you, Upper management does not practice what they preach, they just find ways to make more money for themselves and set themselves up for the golden parachute they get when they decide to leave... good luck to everyone in the upcoming sl------r of dedicated employees, and to those that remain.. heed my words... make sure you don't ki-l yourselves after the sl------r, push back on all the work that will get dumped on you, refuse to work past your paid 8 hours ... try not to do work on your "Families" time and your valuable personal time... good luck all!

I just focused on doing my job well to best my abilities & do quality work! and try to phase out as much as the BS the company comes out with daily for what flavor of the month they were looking at. In the end there incompetence in the way they ran a company made me so much money in overtime that in the long run I really appreciated it !!….if they knew what they were doing that would be a straight 80hr paycheck! So when the time came when they did a buyout offer I accepted and luckily my pension just had increased by quite a bit on the gap rate!!…so I took the lump sum and got out of there!!!
There is always laying on your back, because at the end of the day we are all prostitutes for the company.
Saw a gentleman with 45 years of service get thrown out the door with little to no notice. No retirement party (no budget for that). You are definitely a bean around here.
And....were I to tell you how many single, lonely, materialistic women I have seen in this company, it would make your eyes water. One wonders what it is like for them to cuddle with their cats and wine glass at night as the proceed up the corporate ladder and become lonely and childless hags. Work is a means to an end, and it is never the end in and of itself. You will do well to know and remember that. That way, when you get the inevitable pack your bags notice, you can be grateful and look forward to the next chapter in the adventure without wailing and gnashing your teeth about the end of your life just occurring. No one should cry about the loss of a job. Plenty more are out there.
Unless I was on call out I had zero interest in bringing my job home with me. Big reason II never went into management, Phrases such as “Hard work is it’s own reward” is. Nothing more than Orwellian corporate newspeak
Solution. Be lazy like the rest of ATT. Problem solved.
Another possible solution, have a trust fund. Stay at ATT and be lazier.
This is a duh statement, 95% of the people that work in corporate are here for a paycheck with no illusions that hard work or loyalty is rewarded, the remaining 5% are either executives with fat golden parachutes, or wanna be executives waiting for their piece.

I'm glad I left this company in November. The stress I was under was affecting my health. For the 20+ years I was with the company I made it a point not to lose out on important family events because I knew that in the end all of my hard work would not mean much to the company.
I was not a slacker and I did my job well. I just didn't give them all of my precious family time.
True words. I was a manager for an call center in San Diego for 20 years and gave up so much time, lied for them and pushed people out of the company. They turned around and gave me 2 week notice and that was all.
