I know that there are those who feel safe in their positions, but it is still much better to be prepared so that you don't end up without your personal items because everything happens very quickly. It is better to have them packed on time. And of course, start sending resumes if you haven't already.

As a suggestion, you may want to start reading this book: "Headhunter Hiring Secrets 2.0: How to FIRE Up Your Career and Land Your IDEAL Job!" by Skip Freeman (Kindle Edition: $9.99).
The first version of this book opened my eyes 10 years ago about the hiring process, which should be seen as an elimination process (not a Ï-hope-they-like-me process), and it helps you create a strategy for that. This book goes over resumes, LinkedIn profiles, cover letter, how to succeed at interviews and how to negotiate an offer - really helped me.
Hope this helps.
Layoffs or no layoffs, people are better off taking care of themselves.
