So my full time order writer merchandiser recently was a rep now he has this new role. I have 27 stores on my new territory and can barely keep up. My old full timer always sold in extra displays and always went above and beyond. This new ex sales rep refuses to sell in anything extra. I’d figure he would since he was a ex rep and we would have each others backs. He just wants so throw the load, write his order and execute scripted displays then go home. Anyone else having any issue like this?

Store managers want nothing to do with DSD selling in my area. They tell us to go talk to someone else. We haven't moved to mission 1 yet and still definitely being over scheduled as a sales rep.
"my" full time order writer, and "I" have 27 stores is where your problem begins! You don't own your order writer and they don't report to you! Instead of saying "I" have 27 stores, how about, "we" have 27 stores?
You are the problem! On top of this, management thought it would be smart to retain help at a much lesser pay and no car etc.. What a joke! Once again they were thinking of . themselves and not their workforce! Who really thought this would be smart? The fact that this person even does anything, be grateful!
Agreed, most grocery managers are uneducated and don't bonus off revenue anymore. That's why you must start getting to know/selling to STORE managers. They understand numbers we show and are generally interested in seeing what they do compared to other stores in their district.
Sales reps won't be graded/tracked on CPH anymore. Only for FTOW and PT.
Also, not to mention that I'm being waay over scheduled to throw deliveries now to because of cph that this is almost no time to sell
Retail middle management is generally unqualified and uneducated. They don't care about numbers or growing business. All they are taught to do is follow programming and keeping a clean backroom. Showing them the numbers has never worked in my territory.
Absolutely zero complications with CRMA. Drill down to specific store and get incredibly detailed sales numbers down the sku for that store. Very powerful tool to sell with. I've been using it for a few months now. You guys/girls should at least check it out before you dismiss it.
Ain't that the truth!
I'm pretty sure CRMA is the analytics function in Salesforce. Basically this company wants to waste valuable time and resources over complicating selling to retailers. Taught in business school to never get lost in the numbers or waste time interpreting meaningless statistics. We are doing the exact opposite. This company has always been good and making things unnecessarily difficult for no reason.
What's CRMA?
FTOW will only be writing orders and merchandising. Sales reps only selling. That's it. No pack out, only selling at store level then writes notes of what to add to order/build for FTOW. Sales reps better get used to using CRMA
Some people will never get it! I would do the absolute bare minimum at a snails pace....and then hurt myself doing it!
And why would he punk? After they cut him off at the knees why would he help you do your job? Selling obviously didn’t keep his job so why do it now?
The sales rep that started this thread seems like a real piece of work. The ex sales rep now ftow seems like he knows the job and doesn’t want to give anymore to this company. I’d be the same way if that happened to me. The rep should be grateful he has someone on his territory that knows the job and can handle it. The rep is the one that should go above and beyond. This rep seems lazy asf.
Good for him! It's nice to see people realize how bad they got treated and hitting back at this company. There is no incentive to go above and beyond anymore, so why do it? They floated the idea of raising the FTOW's bonus to 10% on the quarter, but so far, nothing has come down in writing. Why even try to hit a bonus?
You should be glad your ex sales rep FTOW is doing his job. Sounds like he's doing great! The merchandisers around here throw part of the load, none of the back stock, and don't build displays, including scripted displays.
Your complaining about someone actually doing their job, and expecting them to go above and beyond is nauseating.
STFU
I would be the exact same way if I was in his position
He took a huge pay cut he's probably only staying til he finds something else. Your lucky he's throwing cases our ftow are leaving pallets not doing the change over or building displays and mgmt does nothing. It will only be merchs and order writers left soon becareful to who you pi-s off. You may get stuck with it all
More work less pay. Hey long as we get those DMI pics
If your full timer can usually handle anything, maybe they should be the rep, not you. I'm leaps and bounds above any of the merchandisers.
How dare you expect a tenured sales rep to bow down to you.
Bi--h please...
Demoting these reps is the d-mbest thing I've ever heard of! This used to be taboo because they knew the demoted employees would be demotivated, who wouldn't? They are doing this cause it's hard to find new people.
So crazy anyone would expect anything from them. Adjust your expectations, bust your bu-t if you want but don't expect a demoted employee to....wise up!
Put yourself in his place for a minute.. chances are he got a pay cut where you probably got a pay raise. He was told whether directly or indirectly that he was not good enough to be a rep. Everything he probably did, sacrificed, put the company before for at this point must probably feel like it was for nothing.. and you want him to go above and beyond.. what for? .. like alot of us here in the company. We still need jobs. We still have people that are depending on us to provide. The company could care less about us and it shows each day.. some of us are just reciprocating the same.
I’m just so use to having a full timer that can handle anything. I’d figure he would step up to the plate and help me own this territory
Can you blame him
