I was watching youtube on my firestick yesterday and there was a Ford ad talking about how it is a nice place to work (so many people want to work there). Since I have a few youtube contributors I support by watching the ads, I see a fair amount of ads, but that is the only one like that I ever saw. Usually they are just advertising cars.

Just read the “I must disagree” post.

I’m still laughing. How can some people have their heads buried so deep in the sand?

Eliminate Ford Next. Start with FLV and his useless Directors. Canopy was laughed at CES and the fake from HP hasn't produced anything. Shut down Palo Alto and the fakes of Greenfield Labs. More epic fails, Ford X and Autonomic. Billions wasted and nothing to show. Accountability folks! Cuts need to happen, hopefully soon, buzz is around March, LL5/4/3s will be put on special assignment and shown the door out on their a$$.

Get rid of half the LL2s and 3s. All of the LL4s and 5s. And keep only the productive LL6s.

Most of the LL2s-LL5s are useless and redundant.

Ford Next and prior Ford X have wasted at least $10 Billion, by my estimation based on our financials. Not one of them, FLV, CM or RM has ANY track record of ANY successful project. If Farley wants to reduce costs, this would be a great place to start. CM gets paid $1 million per year, if you can believe that.

The Ford+Transformation Plan is another smokescreen and distraction. The real goal is to eliminate legacy costs > anyone hired when pensions were given as well as any threats to Farley's regime or whoever his ranks find undesirable.
JF is a sociopath and will do the nastiest things to improve the bottomline.
Good thing is one of his many targets are Dford and Ken M. JF HATED Jim H's ' design think ' BS. All talk and no results. Look how many of their so-called Directors are being moved, they're being exposed and will be terminated soon. FLV, CM, RM from Next are also on JF's chop list, ALOT of $$$$$ spent ( talking billions!!!!!) and nothing to show for it.
Buzz is another round of layoffs in March, IDK? My guess is quiet terminations will happen, plenty of forced resignations or special assignments until plenty of fakes are shown the door. BTW, for anyone that believes we're a data & subscription company, you will be one the first to jobless. We are a manufacturing company that maybe/ possibly/ if Google will throw us a bone use data/ subsc to make a few extra dollars; but if the vehicle is cr-p, all bets are off and JF and DF are well aware.

Ford is on its way to Farleys 85% low cost country.
They are following IBMs game plan. They achieved 85% low cost country years back and now are working toward 99% one group at a time. AIX now 100% India. https://www.theregister.com/2023/01/12/ibm_aix_developer_jobs/

If you think your Ford job won’t shortly be offshore, you are fooling yourself.
Yes IBM quality declined dramatically with off shoring, luckily for Ford their quality is already in the toilet.

@1leu+1kDRWHgh Your argument doesn’t hold water as they culled technical experts in software and data keeping (and even expanding) the non-skilled ranks.

@1fwb+1kDRWHgh Yes, we noticed the clowns on top have been culling the technical ranks. Let's see how that's working out for the company:

2018: 31 recalls
2019: 37 recalls
2020: 45 recalls
2021: 53 recalls
2022: 65 recalls

Can you see the progression on recalls as the "innovative minds" of Hackett and Farley destroy the company? Do you know the best part? It is going to get worse, way worse.

I have my popcorn ready for the show. After all, I can always find another similar job, but the Ford family will not find another large American company to destroy.

I must disagree to a point. With the Ford+ Plan company transformation, the legacy technical specialist role in the company is mostly no longer required. Our focus is more on EV's and data/software, not mechanical. If you didn't notice, the company has quietly been reducing the technical specialist/expert ranks the past few years as our leadership realized resources are better spent on Model e initiative led by Doug Field. We no longer have senior level positions either for the same reason.

100% of LL5 and LL3 should be chopped.
Then at least 50% of LL6

Ford rapid decline started when they stopped valuing technical skills and instead valuing only senior leadership track individuals. This was at the same time they removed all bands above GSR8 and created the LLx structure.

Dig into these people’s backgrounds. CM wants you to think he is from
Grosse Pointe, but he grew up in Taylortucky. His college was a four year degree in seven years with a 2.0 average at a branch college. He has zero skills to lead anything, but here we are on a sinking ship!

Ford definitely does not need more LL levels. Half of LLs could be let go tomorrow and it wouldn't matter. Cut LL bonus levels as well. Do you ever see LL5s and above leave the company? It is quite rare. The reason they don't leave is they are overcompensated at Ford. Use the savings to offer better pay and benefits for engineers to remain engineers. Extend LL leases to GSR8. Why not? It would improve Lincoln sales since no one else buys them.

@1fqh Thats interesting. Its also very similar to grades 9 & 10 that they had before the LL's were created. I kind of like the idea, but the reality is that any probationary LL6.5 will make it to LL6 by default.

If I can chime in here with a proposal,
I think F should introduce half step leadership levels - LL6.5, LL5.5, LL3.5
This would allow / expand more openings for people who are at the threshold for advancement. For example, an engineer who is not quite ready to take on a full supervisory position would be placed into the LL6.5 level for a probationary term prior to moving up into the LL6 position and so on for her higher up levels. Also, this could help with the whole DEI initiative to open more positions.

I'm interested to hear how others feel about this.

Ummmm, LL6s are way more useful than the LL5s! Get rid of them.

“ especially Christian M and Robert M. Canopy was laughed and ignored at CES.”
CM knew (was warned) prior to the announcement of Canopy that it would be a failure.
He has no education or background to qualify him for his job. He will continue to drain Fire with expenses that will never be covered by revenue.

Leadership levels arent the problem. Nepotism and lack of accountability are the real problems at FoMoCo. Most are promoted based on ' old boy network ' instead of accomplishments that translate to profits. JF's promotion is the best example. Impossible to count on one hand anything he did that translated to success. He sucked up to a certain Ford family and connived his way in as Hackett was shown the door. Look at the LL3/4/5's of D(umb) Ford. Nothing but ' how might we ' instead of solving real problems on real products. One of their LL5's, Ryan M, even announced that they do NOT solution, SMH, then wtf are you doing? The auto industry is always evolving, and if you can't keep up with delivering quality products through focused leadership you need to be terminated - plain and simple. FLV is another example, nothing to show after spending enormous amounts of money. Kick him and his staff of useless ' leaders ' out - especially Christian M and Robert M. Canopy was laughed and ignored at CES. Townhalls are useless, nothing but platitudes, not one senior leader can clearly offer a focused plan. LOL , a data company. Ford leadership are clueless.

I'd eliminate LL5s. LL6s, while many are not ready for the role (and will never be), some LL6s are actually knowledgeable.
