Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It's happening! Massive layoffs just got approved

So from my meetings this week this is what is happening as of now.
Wireline is gonna see a 20% reduction in head count over the next 6 months
Wireless will see 15% reduction in the consumer group over the next 3 months
20% reduction in business group over 3 months
Another 17% in reduction across the board comprising network training hr marketing finance etc.
Q4 results werent good enough to save Q3. Timeliness may need to get adjusted based on outside factors and regulations legal team is working through all the hoops now to begin moving forward.

Neon? I was thinking I'd put it in my 2023 performance goals to make sure it was well documented.

I believe it was something along the lines of "... technology changes ... physical interoffice memos were still sent after email ... people will be affected ..." around and around along with there being no target numbers.

I sort of believe the no target numbers since the target is more likely every person and/or process possible.

Hey all you naysayer "Seniors" or "Puppets" that are still sucking on the Verizon te-t, you all have a target on your backs and day of reckoning is amongst you. I hope you don't get blindsided but the universe always pays its debt so pray you are debt free. Just remember when you get your pink slip, think about this post and know I am praying for you to be a decent human.

At this point in time, only HR knows where all the dead bodies are buried. It will stay that way until Tuesday 01/17. This information courtesty of an anonymous Verizon HR rep!

Did you all get a leadership meeting or two scheduled on Jan 24 after the earnings results? Are these the meetings identifying if you are in the impacted RIF group? Hmmmm…..

@dst+1kEkbMLY +1kEkbMLY I suspect the the down votes to. “ Another with a lot of downvotes basically states you can't lay off union landline workers without buying them out until aug2026 ✅... Can one deny that also? Lol!!!”
Is because you are correct, union workers can not be laid off but given that, why are they commenting on a layoff board.

You are correct, so roll out that eisp as soon as possible. I would be happy to accept.

What does wireline even do? You can easily lose 2-3 people on every team and still get the work done.

Even if we had a spectacular Q4 results we still have much room for improvement in a market that is HIGHLY saturated, networks have gotten better for T Mobile and best/lowest price now dictates whom they will go with ......for most customers

I smell bullsh-t! By your percentages you are looking at ~ 20 K jobs in 2023. Sorry alarmist, this post doesn't pass the common sense test. Will there be RIFs in 2023? Yea, there are always RIFs but we won't see the blood letting OP is fabricating.

After the kickoff videos, I have absolutely no faith that anyone in upper management knows what they're doing or have a solid plan for anything.

Imagine getting in front of the company and lying to everyone about how much you care about the employees, when all you do is outsource Customer Service and close down Corporate Stores and replace them with Indirects.

Everyone at the top is panicking and I hope they realize that saying the same buzzwords and catchphrases over and over doesn't motivate anyone. Let's quote that credo one more time.

Notice how oddly specific these numbers are....esp given that Q4 did come back. Only a VP or higher would have these numbers this early, and they would never be on this board.

Surprised it was not after: Earnings Date Jan 24, 2023. The equities market is about to get rocked hard downward in 2023 for numerous corporations and companies with downward revised earnings. Verizon is just the tip of the iceberg. Layoffs will increase substantially across the board, Verizon, Google, Amazon, HP, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and the list goes on ... There will be multiple rounds of them in multiple corporations and companies throughout the year, economic growth is slowing.

This explains why the early shift bid was cancelled for my group in wireless. God I hope I get riffed and replaced by an overseas center. Then it will be the blind leading the deaf. Puts on VZ baby.

Wireline gonna have to be bought out with an EISP unless you mean it's management. I'm that case, the company could easily do without 20% since all scorecards now are automated. All managers do is do the final signoff on timesheets. If your numbers aren't good enough just bring in anyone to reprimand.
