@5hpt+1kFcF4r0 That would be great! I would give employees the option to do 4/1 or just 4 days, as some people with kids may not be able to do 9 hours.

The fact is, we perform better when we are together! It's the reason every pro team practices together. It's the reason every top tech company is pulling people back on-site. While it may not be the best for the individuals; at Nike it should be about the team (company), not about individuals. Ask any pro athlete; you have to make sacrifices if you want to be the best. If not, I suggest looking at openings at Columbia Wear, Sketchers or Under Armor!

@5otk: what would be best for Nike, and a recruiting and morale bonanza, would be to adopt a 4-day work week. Mon-Thur, 9 hours/day. Basically a 36-hour work week spread across 4 days. There have been several companies experimenting with this and it seems to be a universal success. Might not seem like having only one extra day off per week would make a massive difference but data shows it does. One company in Massachusetts adopted this model for a year and saw productivity increase almost 40%. Turns out people are happy to go all-in during those 4 days knowing they have an extended weekend every week. It really does make a lot of sense. If I had one wish for Nike that would be it.

I hope so! Production is down, costs are up, creativity and teamwork are low, and politics are at an all-time high. Nike will be better going to 4/1 (Fridays wfh) or 5 days. Remote workers more than 90 miles from their office location can stay fully remote since they aren't participating in the 3/2 schedule anyways. This would be best for Nike!

@4hvt That will be tough to enforce when individuals have been hired remote (not pilot, there are folks who are hired remote from the get-go and into perpetuity). If it's in their hiring contract, there's not much that can be done to force them into the office. And when you have roles that are filled with both remote and non-remote employees, then you don't have much of a leg to stand on. Can the work be done remote, or not?
You can be an unproductive employee and come into the office 5 days a week. You can take workout breaks and dog walk breaks while working at home and still get more done than those who come into the office every day.
I'm not sure what the big deal is here. If you're remote, you're still allowed to come into the office (no one is stopping you). If you aren't remote, haven't you had plenty of time to find a role with more flexibility? Or even look outside Nike?

5 days isn’t coming. That’s a rumor the OP made up. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a crackdown on the 3/2 schedule. Another large company whose name I forget just sent out an email about this. They said “We have a 3/2 schedule but many of you aren’t showing up 3 days a week. Moving forward we’re going to be more closely monitoring and enforcing this. There will be consequences for non-compliance.” I’d bet money Nike will follow a similar path. The problem always is that when you give people an inch they often take a mile. Companies are realizing that now and throwing down the hammer.

My favorite: Those who are 100% remote, but come to campus to use the facilities and work out during the day and thrn go back home to work again.

I’d be so happy to end Nike’s d-mb offshoring experiment. I’d pay so much just to trade in my 5am start time with a daily commute again.

Forcing standard office time on me would cut my time sheet by +10 hours every week.

Bring them back. Those of us required to be in the office have been observing others abusing the privilege. We all rearranged our lives. We can all do it again. I am fed up with not being able to reach people and watching them post on social media what they are actually doing.

This is not a balanced system. If everyone had the choice: Fine. We did not all have the choice and I could have absolutely been doing my job 100% remote. The 3-2 model works just fine and there is no reason everyone shouldn't be on it. Unfair and ridiculous already.

I hope this isn’t true. People have arranged their lives based on the 3/2 model including silly things like childcare, transport, school pickup/drop off, commuting time. It’s weird how we were expected to make do with using an ironing board set up in the hall when it suited them but now there is only one correct way to do things.
