Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

A RIF is not imminent....

The return to office policy is being discussed. It is anticipated a certain percentage of V-Teamers will voluntarily separate due to the new policy. New Return to Office policy estimated end of Q2. NO RIFs until Verizon determines how much head count loss will occur due to Return To Office policy.

Is RTO going to be like VZ musical chairs or are they just going to RIF where they don't have the seats? With closed offices there will be more people competing(?) for less seats so better get there early or no seat for you.

Why would I go back to the office if everyone on my team lives in other states? Doesn't make any sense.

Let them call you back. Don’t quit. Stay home and let them fire you. At least you can collect unemployment.

Verizon forcing people to go back to the office means that some will quit which = they don’t have to provide a severance. Easy and cheap way to get rid of headcount.
Never leave without a severance though unless you’ve found a better job.

To IT, RTO higher priority than saving plant costs. RTO is a higher priority because executive management doesn't trust their teams.

Want to save a lot more money? Ditch the real estate.

Oddly enough, this has merit. People have enjoyed working from home a lot, and many companies offer this today. People will quit if they are forced to come back into the office. Do not be surprised by this tactic.

Why would they RTO if cost savings is their goal? Just to force people to quit? I'm sure this company will be great when it's ran by people who want to be in the office. I bet that is a great bunch to be around.

Wish they'd offer VSP again. I'd take it this time.
