It's not just the people that were fired that would benefit from more information. People hate change but they hate the unknown more.
If HR were competent and ethical, they would announce how many are going to be affected, the timeframe of the selection, when your department will be notified, and list all the benefits and assistance that will be offered if you're downsized. What's the point of spending the money on it if you're not going to promote it to your employees?

What could be more important to an employee that was just laid off than the specifics of the separation package!! Unbelievable! Also it appears most layoffs were over 60! Isn’t there a thing called age discrimination??
