Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

New employees

What are the chances somebody who's been with BNYM for under a year will be laid off today?

I am a new employee myself (classified as a "contractor") who has been there since September. My 6 month contract expires in March. I'm not certain if management will extend it on not. I haven't had done much training since I don't have the systems properly set up to do the assignemnt efficiently nor a dedicated trainer in the office to help me through the work. It is in Loan Servicing fwiw. I'd volunteer as a layoff as I feel like I'm stealing money for the continous lack of activity/attention made. I feel since I am making below market wage as compared to management my position would be safe but also feel like I'll be terminated anytime now.

If you are a complete f-up in your job, they will let you go no matter the tenure.

Be smart about this - if you are a new employee, take the time to build up a resume, the look elsewhere outside this company. BNY Mellon is where careers go to die. If you don’t believe it, look at who is getting the boot today, it’s the most experienced with the most skills and knowledge. Decide if you want to remain in a place where it’s the blind leading the blind.
