People are hoping that there won't be layoffs even though everyone has a hunch that there will be, because it would be very strange for Dell to be exempt from the layoffs that are happening in the industry.
Managers use this tense atmosphere to further overwhelm employees.

There is zero tension or mention in my (large) team, we are overloaded with work and coping with normal work issues but no one is being layed off.
no tension hear. Have not heard any rumors in the office about layoffs. I've asked around and it's news to everyone. I've asked a few levels up the chain and it's crickets. Nobody has hear anything. Maybe that's good news for our dept. Maybe others aren't going to be so lucky

I agree with the post.A lot of tension and whispers in Emea and everyone on edge but nobody is certain.
