Collective Redundancy in Ireland has laws (The Protection of Employment Acts) that state if the number is going to be a minimum of 30 - there has to be a notification that proposes 30. It will be odd if it ends up being just 30 people laid off by Intel (but maybe this will be the case )

Text Below

What constitutes a Collective redundancy?
‘Collective redundancy’ is the making redundant within a period of 30 consecutive days, of a minimum number of employees, that minimum varying with the normal size of the establishment’s workforce. The relevant minimum number of proposed redundancies vis-à-vis the size of the overall workforce is as follows:

5 employees in an establishment employing 21-49 employees
10 employees in an establishment normally employing 50-99 employees
10% of employees in an establishment normally employing 100-299 employees, or
30 employees in an establishment normally employing 300 or more employees

Ireland will get hit the same as every other country - just will have a 30 day consultation period before redundancy notices can be issued to individual employees

I’m in the US and I hope IR is not cut deeply. The employees there are stellar for the most part and the overlap of time zones with Asia is very helpful.

We are building the new fab34. I understand Leixlip is responsible for 60% of intels' profits. That is the blurb I read anyway. Fab34 is in bits. They cannot get the tradesmen and stuff signed off is not done. COHE locks still on "finished" installations, They are finding out the hard way. They say 30 roles are going, but that could be just the start. Over 200 green badges were let go just before christmas and their roles are now being covered by blue badges. We will see what happens next.

The new Fab leaks like a sieve. During recent heavy rains, they had to patrol the fan decks to ensure the water did not get into the electrical cabinets. It is a shambles.
