Help. Need advice. My boss has implied we should be in office 5 days a week. He loves having an audience and can talk for two hours and not take a breathe. Meanwhile the rest of us look at all the work we need to complete. At the end of the day he goes on about how great it was, how much we got done, blah blah blah. Anyone else dealing with this? Should I just stay WFH until they make us come back? Intentionally sit far away so i get my badge swipe credit but don’t interact?

They don't like being home or they would be there.
Adulting is not as hard as people make it.
“I have a hard stop @ X o’clock.” Then at X you change task. You can add detailed excuses if needed but I woulldnt. You reserve those if you’re pressed for why you must go.
My boss is the reason why the whole team has ADAs for anxiety and postpartum depression. No one wants to deal with her in person.
Just put 🎧 on and complete your work and let him talk to the rest who care to listen. 🫡
You could let him know that you are concerned about meeting deadlines, and unfortunately need to end the conversation to get back to work. Don't take work home. If it doesn't get done because of repeat conversations, explain that you really wanted to get it done, but also wanted to be respectful when he chose not to end the conversations.
My group is run by a guy like that. He can and does turn anything and everything into a story about himself. A long story. And anyone who doesn’t appear to be absolutely enthralled ends up on the layoff list. If you’re looking for a package look bored and yawn. He’ll notice. And you’ll be gone. Otherwise plan on listening to his BS all day and taking your work home at night. Sorry, but there’s not much else you can do.
i have to be on conference calls with a guy like that. He repeats himself over and over and over again too.
How about telling him you have plenty to do and need to cut the conversation short? Then slowly walk away
