Severance Package? Comment what you know people have gotten!

Look, if you're on this board you're obviously worries or at least interesting in potential layoffs.

Share what these golden parachutes, or lead turds, have been. What have you seen colleagues get in the last churns, and what do you think people will get today?

Recently laid off in Sept… 2 months severance + 1 week for every year, 2 months of Cobra, RSUs were adjusted to what had vested only. I was eligible for unemployment until I received my severance check. If you are in sales, expect that to be a few weeks to a month to actually receive. I was able to apply and receive unemployment from the state (TX). However I could not apply once I received my severance check. I can reply for unemployment again based on a date TX Workforce gives you.

I forget the year (2012?), but the voluntary severance package offered was 2 months, plus 1 week pay for each year of service, plus 75% of your bonus, plus 75% of that vesting year's LTI. I have always heard this formula for other layoffs at Dell. I imagine the bonus will be challenged this time as it's looking to be low for everyone.

some of us are working on teams in ISG that are making money for the organization, so ya, we've been isolated from layoffs and have the okay to hire. We've heard of a few isolated cases of people being laid off here and there, but nothing large. The last large layoff everyone seems to remember is actually pre pandemic where we lost alot of managers and senior managers. Not hearing any rumors either, except whatever is posted on this site, which seems to be very inconsistent.

Not the same thing you guys are experiencing but I was once faced with either a PIP or I could take a severance package er.. I mean they called it something more PC, like "Employee relocation assistance" which was basically 2.5 months of pay in a lump sum(I was there for about 13 years if that matters). I had too much of an ego and hate quitting, so I declined on the package and did the PIP and survived. A few months later I got a new manager, same department and I guess he saw how I was recently on a pip as an easy way to get me out of there and somehow put me on another pip, which this time i failed because I did whatever my manager asked me to, even though it wasn't in my personal best interest. OH well I collected unemployment which added up to the same amount as the severance package lol.

Not true, we haven't heard much. We're a development group and have not had any layoffs. Unless it's published somewhere, we haven't heard of any. Maybe you're in a more volatile area. We're actually hiring developers. Not trolling, just being honest.

When I worked at Dell I found a doc on the HR site that outlined the separation terms. About one week for each year of service up to 24 weeks if I remember correctly. Was hoping for a package but found another job I could not pass up even with a huge pay cut. No regrets, no longer dred getting every morning.

Strange, seems that people are being given advance notice to try and find something else in dell rather than just face immediate layoff

I'm also ISG and heard nothing about this

“I'm in ISG also. We haven't heard of any cuts where we are. Which group was affected?”

I’ll know soon. Just been given until the end of the month to find a new position (based on open reqs) or face layoffs. Major restructuring going on at least in ISG.

Dell’s standard severance package for US based peons for quite some time now is 2 months salary, plus 1 week salary for every year of service, plus usually some proration / partial bonus. Whether that still holds, you’ll have to wait for one of the recent layoff folks to weigh in.

Package will differ depending on the region.
US will be different to EMEA and so on.
As far as I know the US has less laws around this.
Makes it harder for layoffs in Europe which means a better package.
Also depends on State law in US I would imagine.
Twitter had trouble around the Eurpean cuts because of this.
