I know it sounds awful, but for once I'm glad that an American company is laying off foreign employees instead us. I'm not happy that anybody is losing their job, but so many times it's us on the chopping block while others are barely affected. It's good for once to be on the other side of that equation.

germany has shot itself with going all green. they diserve everything they get. next up germany sends tanks to ukrai.............talk about global warming huh?
Germany has a strong workers union that advocates for both hourly and salaried employees. There are also German Federal Labor laws that protect German jobs. Same in France where the company was jumping through hoops trying to close the problumatic Bordeaux Transmission Plant.
Europe frequently has contracts with their employees so they have to work around that. I'm sure Ford has been trying every angle and waiting for the right time in Germany. Americans are an easy target because we can be fired at will.
We are all selfish. They tend to fire americans first because truly the hire a lot more americans than other countries and its way easier to lay off a few hundreds high paid americans than europeans. Its all your fault, isnt it?
