Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

How much money do you make?

I’m all for salary transparency. I also have no idea what is a normal salary. But I see people say BNY doesn’t pay that high and i feel like i get compensated pretty decently. I’ve been working for under ten years and I’m a level k, making 135k and a 10-20k bonus. Not in tech. Live in US, Not NYC.

For those who don’t mind sharing, would love to have a discussion.

Not in my experience. For the same job women seem to make more with less hours.

@OP

Congratulations,

If you’ve been working for under ten years, now a level k, making 135k and a 10-20k bonus. Not in tech. Live in US, Not NYC. Then you are doing very well indeed. You’re on the fastest track that I’ve seen outside of nepotism hires like Schardt. For point of reference I reached that in 40 years with a lot of major deliverables without one failure.

Just curious, why down vote my response about what I make as an M? Do you not believe it, or are you just angry that I get that much? The S posted 265k base, which makes sense. The low side bonus 50k doesn't, 200K high side I believe.
As an M I've never seen less than 150K, however I've only been an M for 6+- years, so maybe a while ago it was cr-p.

I should add to @2ltm that my bonus for the last 5 years or so was usually around $2k. I think our managers in NYC played favorites with the employees they went to lunch with every day when it came to handing out raises and bonuses.

I was a developer and a VP making $100k per year which came out to about $20 per hour. I was in East Syracuse until they closed the office and tried to get me to commute to Oriskany. I think my position was eliminated because I refused to commute an extra 50 minutes to sit at a desk and ping people in NY, NJ, Pitts and India.
I was making $75k when I was hired 18 years before that and suffered from 1% raises because "things are difficult" every February. I almost accepted a 100% remote job offer for $160k but I decided to retire.

There are different ranges for Investment VS Non-Investment Management and the difference is larger as as the grade level increases.

After seeing what I see posted here, not only am I underpaid by my entire team is too. Sadness sets in.. . . . . .

The problem is the pay scale has a 20K spread at each grade level. For example, a level F could be 35k-55k. Level G could be 38k-58k. I know plenty of people that made more money as a lower grade level that 2 grades above then

The real question is “Were you and your close coworkers hired in a wave by a Sr Manager who left a competitor bank?”

That’s the way that it works now.

It depends on where you live/work and your grade level. A Level K in NYC is not going to be paid the same as a Level K in Pune. There is also a wide scale within each grade level.
