Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Vz Q4 earnings-Hans on cnbc

Hans was just on CNBC this morning talking about what a good Q4 vz had. He talks in circles a lot. He also mentioned cap ex going down 25% this year.

Capex was expected to go down since 2021 (Matt Ellis has spoken about this as a result of less intensive 5G acquisition and deployment costs. Also, Capex changes are for CAPITAL expenditures of things being bought etc.... Opex is operational cost like salaries. He made no mention of Opex... though we all know that layoffs are coming regardless.

If cap ex going down 25% this year, expect big layoffs.

Sampath already laid down the law that VZB must sell the VZ Value Prop as pricing for equipment will not be the clearance levels of the Q4 as Hans trys to save his job. He should be fired, no ifs ands or buts.

I work at T-Mobile and I would shoot myself if Hans was my CEO. What an embarrassment! I feel bad for you guys! At least our guys make sense when they talk!

They gave away tablets and watches to get that number. Total retail postpaid phones declined 1.1%. Go check the financial statements on the investor relations website

I think everyone expect positive consumer adds in Q4 because we were basically giving away tablets and watches. That of course is a band aid for just the one quarter. Not sustainable. Unless they come out with some big announcement in the next couple months, I would assume consumer adds will turn negative again. Especially with the amount of outsourcing we are doing in IT/GTS, core and customer service. We will continue to bleed with the terrible support and terrible systems we run

It wasn't a stellar 4Q. They added net subscribers but not the magnitude TMO is going to have. EPS down year over year. They relied on last minute scramble of promotions which aren't sustainable. Stock down right on time when RSUs are about to be cashed. Verizon Business segment had the usual declines again.
